Frequently Asked about Travel Insurance for Thailand

When heading to Thailand, having travel insurance that includes COVID-19 coverage may not be as big of a worry or a must-do as before. Still, it’s a smart move to look out for your health and finances. COVID-19 cases have gone down a lot, and Thailand has loosened up on entry rules and travel guidelines. But since the pandemic can be unpredictable, and there might be unexpected medical costs, having comprehensive travel insurance is a good idea. LUMA Asia Pass has coverage for COVID-19.

While travel insurance for Thailand is not mandatory, we highly suggest having comprehensive medical insurance for Thailand, even if you are healthy and young. There are a number of reasons for this:

  • Medical expenses can be very high in Thailand. A single day in a private Thai hospital can cost thousands of dollars, even for routine procedures. If you become seriously ill or injured, you could be facing a bill of thousands of dollars or more.

  • A good Travel Insurance for Thailand can give you peace of mind. Knowing that you are financially protected if something goes wrong can allow you to relax and enjoy your trip more fully.

A popular transport in Thailand is motorbikes. Yet, a significant number of tourists fail to follow regulations when using a motorbike as a driver or passenger and accidents occur too often. For more information about how much such an accident could cost, read our blog on the importance of travel insurance for motorbike accidents in Thailand.
